Every signal becomes a decision.
Every decision becomes evidence.

Cortex is the decision layer where field data becomes intelligence. Boson and Photon signals flow into a structured knowledge graph—codifying infrastructure rules into verified, audit-ready outcomes that governments trust and operators act on.

The intelligence layer

Not a dashboard.
A structured knowledge graph that acts.

Boson hears the site. Photon sees it. Cortex understands it—and takes action.

Cortex is Cognecto's decision layer. Every compaction pass, payload cycle, or safety violation flows into a structured knowledge graph. Events are matched against BOQ lines, milestones, and regulatory standards. Cortex clears verified lines, flags deviations instantly, and uses its co-pilot to surface patterns before disputes occur.

This isn't just reporting. It is decision infrastructure—turning field reality into verified institutional records trusted by governments, investors, and regulators.

How it works

From field signal
to verified decision. Automatically.

Step 01 · Ingest
Every signal. One graph.
Boson and Photon events stream into Cortex in real time. Every input is schema-validated, linked to its contract, chainage, or asset, and stored as a retrievable, immutable record.
Step 02 · Reason
Matched against the contract.
Cortex applies encoded domain models for roads, mining, and water. Events are evaluated instantly against BOQ specs or milestones and classified as verified, pending, or non-conformance.
Step 03 · Act
Decisions made. Evidence stored.
Verified BOQs clear automatically. Deviations alert the right teams, and the co-pilot predicts risks early. Every decision keeps an audit trail accessible to engineers and officials alike.

BOQ Verification & Billing Triggers
Verified field events—like compaction sequences or material deliveries—match against BOQ line items and trigger billing automatically. No manual sign-offs or disputed paperwork. The contract executes itself.
Platform Core
Structured Knowledge Graph
Every asset event is stored as a structured node linked to its contract, chainage, operator, and timestamp. Queryable across any dimension and court-admissible by design. The permanent memory of your project.
All Roles · All Levels
Role-Based Intelligence Access
Engineers see their package, directors see the corridor, and Ministries see the state. One Cortex instance filters the knowledge graph by role. No dashboard proliferation—just the right view for every stakeholder.

Immutable Audit Trail
Every record is cryptographically signed and timestamped upon creation. No editing or deletion. This permanent chain of evidence—from raw reading to verified BOQ—is always retrievable for audits or arbitration.

AI Co-pilot & Pattern Detection
Cortex tracks patterns across shifts and sites, surfacing risks before they escalate. From lagging compaction schedules to haul road maintenance needs, the co-pilot recommends action while you still have time.

Shift Planning & Fleet Scheduling
Cortex links field intelligence to operational planning. Live equipment availability feeds shift plans automatically, and compaction progress updates schedules in real time. Your plan reflects today's reality, not yesterday's spreadsheet.

Cortex gave us a single system where every verified field event — from Boson compaction data to Photon progress footage — automatically resolves against the contract. For the first time, BOQ clearance is not a manual negotiation. It is a verified record."

Why Cortex

Intelligence that compounds.
Every project makes it sharper.

Four structural advantages that separate Cortex from a reporting dashboard — and from every generic data platform that has tried to enter infrastructure.

01 / Domain-Encoded Data Models

The rules of infrastructure, built into the platform.

Cortex arrives with the rules of infrastructure already encoded—learned from 25,000 km of roads, 20+ mines, and global water networks. The knowledge graph applies your contract's domain logic from day one without manual configuration.

02 / Schema-Linked Evidence

Every event linked to every obligation.

Every Cortex record links to its contract, chainage, asset, and timestamp. This isn't a simple data warehouse—it's a fully traversable knowledge graph where every chain of evidence is instantly retrievable for audits, billing, or ESG reporting.

03 / Multi-Tenant, Multi-Geography

One instance. Every site. Every country.

Fura Gems runs three global mines, UPIRDA manages fourteen expressway packages, and WATCO Odisha monitors 120 km of water networks—each from a single Cortex instance. It’s built for complex, multi-tenant infrastructure programmes.

04 / Action, Not Observation

Cortex doesn't report what happened. It changes what happens next.

BOQ clearances trigger automatically, non-conformances route to field teams, and shift plans update with live availability. Cortex’s real value isn't just visibility—it’s driving smarter, faster decisions across your operations.

Part of a bigger picture

Boson hears.
Photon sees.
Cortex decides.

Cortex is the third layer of the Cognecto platform — the intelligence that gives meaning to every IoT signal and visual event. Without Cortex, Boson and Photon produce data. With Cortex, they produce decisions.

What is the Cortex knowledge graph?+
The Cortex knowledge graph is a structured, linked database of every event across your infrastructure operations — compaction passes, BOQ line items, milestones, equipment cycles, vision alerts, and maintenance records. Each event is linked to the contract, package, chainage, asset, and regulatory obligation it relates to. The result is a queryable, court-admissible institutional record that grows with every project and becomes more valuable over time.
Does Cortex require Boson and Photon to work?+
Cortex is designed to work with Boson and Photon as its primary data sources, but it can also ingest data from third-party sensors, existing telematics systems, and manual inputs via the mobile app. The knowledge graph and decision layer function with any structured input. Boson and Photon simply make the inputs richer and more automated.
How does BOQ verification work in Cortex?+
Each BOQ line item is configured in Cortex with its verification criteria — the field events that must be confirmed before the item can be cleared. When Boson or Photon produces a verified event that satisfies those criteria, Cortex automatically marks the BOQ line as complete and triggers the billing workflow. Items that fail verification raise a non-conformance with the supporting evidence attached.
What does the co-pilot feature do?+
The Cortex co-pilot monitors patterns across your operations — compaction progress vs. schedule, equipment utilisation vs. plan, NRW trends in water networks, haul productivity vs. target. When a pattern suggests a risk — a delay, a quality deviation, an upcoming maintenance threshold — the co-pilot surfaces a recommendation with the supporting data. It does not make decisions. It ensures the right information reaches the right person before the window for action closes.
Can Cortex handle multiple countries and regulatory environments?+
Yes. Cortex is built for multi-geography, multi-regulatory deployment. Fura Gems runs mines in Mozambique, Madagascar, and Australia on one Cortex instance — each with its own regulatory reporting requirements, currency, and operational standards. The knowledge graph separates organisations and workgroups at the schema level, while the co-pilot and reporting layer can consolidate across all sites for group-level visibility.
Who can access Cortex, and how is access controlled?+
Cortex uses role-based access control configured at the workgroup level. A field engineer sees their assigned package. A site manager sees their project. A programme director sees the corridor or portfolio. A Ministry official or investor gets a read-only view of the aggregated metrics their role requires. Every access event is logged. No user can see data outside their configured scope.
